First Ever Multi-Media Competition Award in Monmouthshire
Katie Knight, a Year Nine Student from Monmouth Comprehensive is the first pupil ever to receive an award for the Monmouthshire entry of this Wales-wide Competition.
Katie compiled a slide show of the consequences of drinking and driving – the physical and emotional stigma of being convicted - and of being a victim.
With the full support of her Head of Year teacher, Mike Powell, Katie’s submission received its debut showing to all Year Nine students when she was presented with a gift voucher in recognition of her efforts.
But it doesn’t stop there. The slide show will be used as a themed “Thought for the Day” for pupils. Katie’s creation is not just a competition entry but a valuable teaching resource.
Mrs Carole Anderson, Headteacher, attended the presentation to support the prize-winning student and further highlight the school’s support of this important Road Safety message.
Katie’s efforts also resulted in an additional prize for the school – a cheque for £200 which was presented to Mrs Anderson and Mr Powell.
