The graphs in this section use data and figures gathered by Heddlu Gwent Police and collated by Capita Symonds Road Safety Engineering Department. This is completed on behalf the five local authorities in the Gwent region and the Welsh Assembly Government, who permit the Capita Symonds Road Safety to use the data for the five authority´s road safety programmes.

Each diagram shows data for the Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, and Torfaen administrative areas, and also includes figures for the motorway and trunk road network, which are the responsibility of the Government´s Highways Agency.

The data sets do not contain details of damage only accidents, which are not comprehensively recorded by the police. The data are collected by the location of the personal injury accident, not by the postal addresses of those individuals involved.

Full data sets giving details of individual personal injury accidents can be obtained by contacting Gwent Police, who retain ownership of the data and may make a charge for the provision of further information.
